How to transfer PPF Account from Post to ICICI bank

POSTED BY Keyur Jinwala ON September 26, 2013 10:50 am COMMENTS (3)

I want to transfer my existing 7 year old PPF account from Post to ICICI bank or SBI. Can anyone let me know the detailed process for this transfer? I need to avail this facility in order to be able to do online deposits to my PPF account

I checked in post office but seems that they were not at all aware of any such process and expected me to explain them the process.

Please let me know the step by step process. Also, how much time will it take? Any precautions to take before initiating transfer?

Dear Keyur, instead of asking you to do it now. I w’d request you to wait for at least 1 more year. RBI may allow a banking license to Post Office also and then you may get the same set of services for your PPF account as you are thinking for SBI or ICICI. So it’s your personal call to go for switch over or not at this point of time.

    Hello Keyur,

Read the below post on jagoinvestor. I have transfered my ppf from sbi to icici. The process is almost same from post office except post office has certain pre specefied form for transfer – if you google it you can find it.

    My detailed experience.
